Hi there! Alex here (the owner of Midnight Motif). Data privacy matters a great deal to me when I’m online. So, I’d like to take a moment to tell you how your data is handled when you interact with this website.
THIS WEBSITE
To run this website, I naturally use a service provider, namely WordPress.com.
When you choose to send me an email, after getting my email off my contact page, in the same way I use an email service provider to receive your email and that’s Fastmail.
If you choose to interact with this website, you’d typically do so in 3 ways:
- Browse & interact with the website
- Browse, read and comment on blog posts
- Send me an email direct from your personal mailbox after getting my email address on my contact page
Please note that, as you interact with this blog, some of your personal data is being used and handled by my service providers, in accordance with their respective privacy policies, and myself in the ways set out in this privacy policy.
At any point in time, in accordance with GDPR, the new data protection law, you have a right to:
- Enquire into what data is being used
- Enquire into why your data is being used
- Enquire into who is using your data
- Enquire into how your data is being used
- Enquire into how long your data is being used for
- Request that your data be deleted from where they are stored (this won’t cost you a thing; it’s a legal requirement under the GDPR)
To enquire into how we use your data or send a deletion request, please drop me a line at daphnescolourfulcents(at)reallyfast(dot)biz and I’ll be more than happy to answer your questions and/or action your deletion request.
COOKIES
TO RUN AND MANAGE THIS BLOG, I USE THE FOLLOWING SERVICE PROVIDERS:
- WordPress.com – website provider
These third-party service providers operate under their own respective privacy and cookie policies: WordPress.com – Privacy Policy
Note: WordPress.com operates under the trading name of Automattic and Gravatar is a service offered by Automattic.
I, the blog owner, do NOT use cookies.
OTHER THIRD PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS
I do not, at this stage, use anything else on this blog, meaning no plugins, google analytics, email building list service such as Mailchimp, ads or other third-party service providers.
INTERACTING WITH THIS WEBSITE
When you visit this website, you can interact with it the following ways:
- Browse & interact with the website
- Browse and read blog posts
When you browse around the website, your key data will be shown to me by WordPress.com on my dashboard, as per their terms and conditions along with their privacy policy and cookie policy.
I have zero control over this because I am a user/customer of their service.
Typical key data are your gravatar, along with any information you chose to make public on your gravatar profile, and your country. Additionally I also get to see if you clicked a link on my website or where you found my website (if you clicked my pin on Pinterest or clicked my website url on one of my stores, etc).
If you do not wish any of this information to be seen by me or by the public, do not add it to your gravatar profile and refrain from commenting on the blog. As a rule of thumb, no personal and no private information should be added to a gravatar profile.
EMAIL Sent to my Mailbox
When you choose to send me an email, the email reaches my Fastmail mailbox with the following data:
- Name (the one associated with your email address)
- Email address
- Subject line
- Content of email
- Time and date the email was sent to me
- Email file size
Fastmail allows me to store and keep your email in accordance with its privacy policy:
What do I do with your email, after it’s reached my mailbox?
I read your email and treat it the following way:
- Your email does not require a response. In this case, I will delete it as soon as I’ve read it
- Your email requires a response. In this case, I will respond and keep it for 7 years before I delete it.
If at any point you’re no longer happy with having your email, therefore personal data, sitting in my mailbox, you need to drop me another email to request that all your emails be immediately deleted and I’ll be more than happy to oblige.
SECURITY
This website is hosted and operated by WordPress.com, meaning security is solely the responsibility of WordPress.com.
The same applies to Fastmail, also a major player in their respective industry.
In addition, I also follow good practices in terms of security when working with both Fastmail and WordPress.com.
CONSENT WITHDRAWL
Like I said above, if you’re no longer happy with you personal data ending up with me and being used the ways described above, drop me an email to request that your data be deleted from my mailbox or WordPress.com website and I’ll action your request upon receipt.
I’m reachable at daphnescolourfulcents(at)reallyfast(dot)biz.
